It’s as you were at the top of the Macron Store Southern Combination Football League after the top three all won in a rain-affected weekend of fixtures.
Only five matches survived the elements, with Shoreham maintaining their narrow lead at the top of the table with a comfortable win at home to Broadbridge Heath. Joe Dryer, Rob O’Toole and Tom Burton were all on target at Middle Road in a 3-0 win over the Bears.
Haywards Heath and Chichester City lead the chasing pack after both picked up routine wins. Kane Louis and Trevor McCreadie scored in the second half to give Shaun Saunders’ Blues side a 2-0 win over Peacehaven & Telscombe, whilst Chi ran out emphatic winners against Worthing United.
Ellis Martin, Max Thomas, Keiran Hartley, Scott Jones and an own goal helped Miles Rutherford’s side record a 5-0 win over third-bottom Worthing United at Oaklands Park.
Evan Archibald scored four times for Eastbourne Town as they saw off bottom of the table Hailsham Town. Ethan Strevett was also on target as John Lambert’s side won 5-2 at the Saffrons, despite Thomas Johnston scoring twice for the visitors.
In the division’s other game, Jake Chadwick and Lewis Finney scored in the first half as Lancing came from behind to beat Loxwood. Ed Davies had given the hosts an early lead at Plaistow Road.
Three games fell foul of the weather in Division One, with East Preston taking advantage of postponements to Saltdean and Little Common to go second.
Dan Huet and Tom Lyne got the goals in a 2-1 win for Bob Paine’s side, who came from behind to win after James Novis had given AFC Varndeanians the lead at the Lashmar. EP now sit a point behind the Tigers with a game in hand in the battle of the title.
Mile Oak moved level on points with Little Common and above Steyning Town after beating the Barrowmen at the Shooting Field. Scott Faber had given the hosts the lead, only for Danny Curd and Enzo Benn efforts to see Oak win all three points.
Bexhill United stay seventh despite winning against sixth-place Lingfield. Gordon Cuddington scored twice for the Pirates, with Corey Wheeler and Craig McFarlane also on target in a 4-2 win at the Polegrove.
After three league defeats in a row, Langney Wanderers returned to winning ways against bottom of the table Ringmer. Paul Weahterby scored twice, with Tyler Pearson and Paul Rogers also on target as the hosts won 5-2 at the Oval. Jordan Rhodes and Luke Donaldson efforts proved to be little more than a consolation for Ash Bailey’s side.
Joseph Clarke scored twice in the opening four minutes as Selsey narrowly beat Storrington in the division’s other game. Ben Mepham got the decisive goal for the hosts, who won 3-2 despite Joe Warner’s brace for the Swans.
Four games survived in Division Two, with Jarvis Brook moving above Sidlesham in second after they won against Worthing Town Leisure. After Miles Surrey gave the visitors a first half lead, Ross Frampton, Jake Broomfield and Nathan Millroy goals saw Brook home 3-1 winners.
They stay eight points behind Bosham after the Robins won narrowly at Westfield. Bradley Miles got the decisive goal in the first half to give Andy Probee’s side a 1-0 win at the Parish Field.
Cowfold picked up a sixth win of the season after a 12-0 win at Ferring. Ben Hands scored five, four of which came in a eight minute spell before the break, with Mark Edmonds, Greg Brabon and Nigel Smith all getting braces. Kyle Mitchell-Harris was also on target for the visitors, who move above Worthing Town Leisure with the win.
In the division’s other game, Harry Smith got the only goal as Upper Beeding beat Rustington, 1-0 at the Memorial Playing Field.

With only three Premier Division fixtures in the Southern Combination Football League, Chichester City moved within five points of leaders Shoreham after a win against Peacehaven.
Josh Clack gave Chi a half-time lead, before an own goal and a late double from Scott Jones saw Miles Rutherford’s side stamp their authority on third spot.
Pagham moved up to fourth after a narrow win at Newhaven. Joe Shelley scored the only goal of the match just two minutes from time to give the Lions a 1-0 win at the Trafalgar Ground.
In the division’s other game, Toby House scored a brace as Loxwood won 3-0 at home to Crawley Down Gatwick. After a goalless first half, the young forward helped the Magpies to a comfortable win at Plaistow Road, with Matt Daniel also on target.

One of the big games in the Premier Division of the Macron Store Southern Combination Football League saw third place Pagham welcome fifth place Eastbourne United to Nyetimber Lane.
And the crowd in West Sussex were treated to an eventful game – with the visitors coming from behind to inflict Pagham’s fourth defeat of the season.
Scott Murfin’s 16th league goal of the season put the Lions ahead early on, before United drew level on the half hour. Despite seeing a penalty saved by James Binfield, Liam Baitup was first to the rebound and made no mistake. With fifteen minutes to go, Callum Hart then put Eastbourne United ahead, only for Neil Murfin to draw the hosts level moments later. However, another penalty saw Baitup score and give United a 3-2 win.
That gave Chichester City the chance to move up to third, and they did that after coming from behind themselves at Eastbourne Town. In a game between our last two representatives in the FA Vase, Jason Taylor and Evan Archibald had twice given an improving Town side the lead, only for goals from Scott Jones, Dan Hegarty and Ellis Martin to give Miles Rutherford’s men all three points at the Saffrons.
The top two remain separated by eight points after both won 4-0 on the road. Shoreham saw off struggling Hailsham Town, with Joe Keehan, Jamie Craddock, Tom Burton and Richard Greenfield on target for the Mussels. Heath, meanwhile, had Callum Saunders score twice in their win at Arundel. An own goal and Trevor McCreadie completed the scoring for the Blues at Mill Road.
There was also an entertaining game at Gorings Mead, where despite coming from behind to draw level, Peacehaven left empty handed after late drama. A brace from Nick Sullivan saw Horsham YMCA go 2-0 up with an hour gone, only for Curtis Ford and Conor Wilkins goals to draw Haven level with goals inside five minutes of each other. Despite that, it was the hosts who went on to win as Phil Johnson scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time to give them a 3-2 win.
Newhaven needed two Ryan Walton penalties to earn them a point at home to Crawley Down Gatwick. Sam Cane and Lee Thomas goals had seen the Anvils come from behind to lead with thirteen minutes to go, but only for Walton’s second spot kick to earn the Dockers a share of the points.
Elsewhere, Lancing came from behind to claim all three points against AFC Uckfield Town. Jack Webber had given the Oaks a half time lead at Culver Road, but only for Will Berry to draw the hosts level. Alex Fair then scored twice in the last six minutes to give the hosts a 3-1 win.
Alex Parsons, Marlon Maxwell and Ollie Moore goals saw Broadbridge Heath win 3-0 at Littlehampton Town, who fall to second-bottom after wins for Wick and Worthing United.
Adrian Todd got the only goal for Simon Funnell’s Worthing side as they won 1-0 at Loxwood, with Joe Gromett on target as Wick won away at Hassocks by the same scoreline.

It’s as you were at the top of the Premier Division table in the Macron Store Southern Combination Football League after the top five all won in the latest round of fixtures.
Shoreham continue to lead the way by five points after a convincing 4-0 win against Loxwood. Joe Keehan, Tom Burton, Rob O’Toole and Richard Greenfield got the goals for the Mussels at Middle Road.
Haywards Heath Town are their nearest challengers, and ahead of their match on Tuesday night, the Blues saw off Newhaven at Hanbury Park. Trevor McCreadie and Alex Laing were on target in the second half to give Shaun Saunders’ side a 2-0 win.
However, it was third place Pagham who were the biggest winners of the day – romping to a 6-1 win away at Worthing United. Kieron Pamment scored a first half hat-trick to put the Lions in the driving seat, before a treble from Ryan Morey in the second period sealed a big win for Mark Bennett’s men at Lyons Way. Paul Elliott grabbed a consolation for United late on.
After losing out in a ten goal thriller last week, Crawley Down returned to winning ways with an emphatic 4-1 win at home to Arundel. Oli Leslie scored a hat-trick for the Anvils after Michael Belli had opened the scoring, with Rory Biggs scoring late on for the visitors’ consolation.
Eastbourne Town’s upturn in fortune continued with a 3-1 win at AFC Uckfield Town. Aaron Capon, Jason Taylor and Evan Archibald got the goals for John Lambert’s men at the Oaks.
Wick missed the chance to move out of the bottom three after failing to hold on to a 2-0 lead at home to Horsham YMCA. Joe Gromett scored twice for the hosts, who were two goals up on the hour, but only for Sam Schaaf and then Guy Harding to earn YM a share of the points at Crabtree Park.
An improving Lancing side picked up a surprise win at Broadbridge Heath. Nana Baah and Lewis Finney scored for the visitors as they won 2-1 at the Leisure Centre, with Stuart Chester scoring late on for Heath.
Chichester City keep close taps on the top three after they saw off struggling Littlehampton Town. Jack Lee, Jamie Horncastle, Keiran Hartley and Ellis Martin got the goals for Chi at Oaklands Park as they won 4-0.
Eastbourne United made it back-to-back wins after seeing off a brave effort from Hailsham Town at the Oval. Martin Mutungi cancelled out Adam Davidson’s effort as the sides went in on level terms, only for the hosts to turn the screw after the break. Bailo Camara, Liam Baitup and Max Hollobone were all on target as United ran out 4-2 winners, with Billy Crittenden scoring late on for the visitors.
Elsewhere, Josh Marshall got the only goal as Peacehaven & Telscombe won 1-0 at home to Hassocks.
In Division One, first hosted second as Little Common welcomed Saltdean United to the Recreation Ground. It was the Tigers who went ahead in the first half, as a header went in off the post, but only for Common to respond in style in the second period. Wes Tate drew Russell Eldridge’s side level, before Saltdean went down to ten men after a second bookable offence by a defender. Despite that, it was the visitors who went closest to regaining the lead as Andy McDowell saw his effort come back off the post, but Little Common went on to win it five minutes from time. Jamie Crone was released inside the area, and he rounded the keeper to give the hosts a great win.
They are three points clear of Mile Oak, who leapfrog Saltdean into second on goal difference, after they beat Lingfield. Enzo Benn scored twice, including a late winner, for the hosts as they won 2-1.
Langney Wanderers’ revival under Andy Goodchild continued after they came from behind to win emphatically at St. Francis Rangers. Rhys White gave Rangers a fourth minute lead, only for the visitors to respond in great style. Nathan Crabb scored a hat-trick with further goals from Josh Elliot-Noye, Shane Saunders, Ashley Jarvis and Wayne Wilkinson as Wanderers won 8-1 at the Colwell Ground.
Third-bottom hosted bottom in what looked a big game prior to kick off as Ringmer made the trip to Billingshurst. However, it was the hosts who picked up only their third win of the season in surprising style. Patrick O’Sullivan scored a hat-trick, with Enobong Idiong, Harry Bowles, Sean Culley and Elliot Hawkes all on target as Billingshurst won 7-2, leaving Ringmer bottom of the table.
East Preston lost ground on those sides above them after slipping to a surprise defeat at home to Storrington. Joe Warner got the only goal of the game as the Swans won 1-0 at the Lashmar.
Steyning Town missed the chance to move into the top three after they were held by AFC Varndeanians. In a real topsy-turvy affair at the Shooting Field, Matt Waterman’s hat-trick proved enough to earn the visitors a point. However, Steyning will be pleased with a point after coming from behind twice with Charlie Romain and a Craig Knowles brace earning them a 3-3 draw.
Morgan Forry scored twice for Selsey as they won 5-1 at Oakwood. Joe Manners, Joseph Clarke and Tom Groom were also on target for the visitors at Tinsley Lane.
David Pugh grabbed a brace in Seaford Town’s 3-1 win at home to Southwick. George Rudwick was also on target at The Crouch as the visitors picked up their fifth win of the season.
In the division’s other game, Midhurst & Easebourne won 2-1 at Bexhill United, with Drew Greenall on target for the hosts.
There was a slightly reduced fixture list in Division Two due to the Intermediate Cup, and Sidlesham made the most of it as they reduced the gap to Bosham to just two points.
Callum Dowdell, Tom Bayley, Tom Kelly, Dan Bassil and Callum Litterick got the goals for the Sids as they won 5-1 at bottom of the table Ferring.
Rottingdean Village came from two goals down to earn a point at Upper Beeding. Tim Tapscott’s opener was cancelled out by Jack Doe as the teams went in level at the break. Jamie Rowland and Nat Rowland then put the hosts 3-1 up on the hour, but Rottingdean battled back to earn a point. Doe scored his second, before Jack McDowells’ late equaliser.
Declan Jenkins scored twice for Worthing Town Leisure as they beat Clymping, 4-1. Rossi Kaye opened the scoring at Palentine Park, with Steve Kirkham also on target for the hosts.
Trevor Wilson, Karl Gumbrell, Aaron Blackwell and Simon Whitney were all on target for Montpelier Villa as they won 4-0 at home to Alfold, whilst Chris Darwin, Kerry Hardwell and Regan Miles scored for Rustington as they saw off Cowfold, 3-0, in the division’s other game.

They replace Saltdean at the top after they were held to a draw at Southwick. Andy McDowell scored against his former club for
the Tigers, but they could only manage a 1-1 draw.
There were eight goals at the Caburn, where Ringmer stay bottom after earning a point against Mile Oak, but only after blowing
a 3-0 lead. Ringmer opened with a goal from Tom Shelley after only 13 minutes followed a minute later with a goal from Ebou Jallow with his first goal for the club which put Ringmer in control, only for Michael Gould and
Enzo Benn goals to make it 3-2. Steve Jackson then made it 4-2 to the hosts, but Oak responded with Joe Benn and Ben Symes
on target to make it 4-4 and share the spoils.

Saturday’s Buildbase FA Vase Second Round ties saw three sides from the Macron Store Southern Combination Football League progress to Monday’s draw.
Eastbourne Town, Horsham YMCA and Newhaven all progressed to round three, whilst there were narrow defeats for both Eastbourne United and Haywards Heath Town.
Peter Buckland’s YM side picked up the stand-out result at Culver Road. Whilst it was not really a shock they beat Lancing, the 7-1 scoreline was certainly of note. Matt Crane, Matt Simpson and Ash Dugdale saw the visitors go into the break 3-0 up. However, the Gorings Mead outfit were far from finished, with Sam Schaaf, Max Howell, Nick Sullivan and then Dave Brown goals making it a bad day at the office for John Sharman’s men.
Lee Robinson’s stoppage time effort gave Newhaven a 2-1 win against Ascot United at Culver Road. Scott Taylor’s penalty on the hour gave the Dockers the lead, only for the Hellenic League side to draw level within ten minutes. With extra time looming, Robinson fired in to give the hosts a narrow win.
Eastbourne Town will be hoping to take their FA Vase form into the league after beating Ashford United at the Saffrons. After going behind to the Southern Counties East League leaders, Ethan Strevett draw Town level at the break, before Dan Bolwell fired in twenty minutes from time to give John Lambert’s side victory.
However, neighbours Eastbourne United were not to have the same luck against SCEFL opposition, with Crowborough Athletic winning at the Oval. Peter Featherstone was in the wrong place at the wrong time, with his own goal five minutes from time giving the visitors a narrow win.
Haywards Heath Town’s road to Wembley came to an abrupt halt at Bedfont Sports. A goal either side of half-time for the hosts proved decisive, with the Blues missing their chances away at Combined Counties Premier opposition.

Simon Funnell’s first game in charge of Worthing United didn’t go to plan as AFC Uckfield won their first game in thirteen games. Terry Payne gave the Oaks an early lead, before two goals in as many second half minutes from Dominic Clarke and Richie Welch saw the hosts run out 3-0 winners.
3-0 was also the scoreline at Mill Road, where Loxwood ran out winners at Arundel. Three goals in a five minute period in the second half proved decisive, with Charlie Pitcher and a brace from Michael Wood giving the Magpies victory.
Broadbridge Heath’s home match against Wick was postponed with a waterlogged pitch at the Leisure Centre.
It proved to be an entertaining afternoon in Division One, with the top two at the start of the day both losing.
However, Saltdean United remain top despite a 4-0 reverse at local rivals Mile Oak. Joe Benn scored twice, with further goals from Joe Hall and Eric Wedge-Bull giving the hosts a big win and condemning Saltdean to only their second defeat of the season.
East Preston drop to fourth after losing a nine-goal thriller with Steyning Town, who move up to take second spot. Tom Lyne cancelled out Ross Adams’ opener in the opening twenty minutes, before the visitors took control. Chad Milner, Lewis Levoi, Craig Knowles and Adams were all on target as the Barrowmen made it 5-1 at the Lashmar, before the hosts came back into the game. Despite a brace from Dan Huet and Lee Mottershead’s effort, Town hang on to win 5-4.
Third-bottom travelled to fourth-bottom as AFC Varndeanians welcomed Billingshurst to the Withdean Stadium, where fans were given a treat on a rainy day, with an eight goal thriller. Harry Magee and Dale Beesley saw the hosts go 2-0 up at the break, only for a brace from Nick Tilley to put the visitors level on the hour. Josh Newman restored Varndeanians’ lead, but Craig Grantham drew Hurst level into the last ten minutes. Mohamed Koroma looked to have scored the winner as the hosts took the lead for a third time, only for Pat Sullivan to score even later to earn Billingshurst a point in a 4-4 draw.
Little Common stay fifth despite a 6-0 rout against Ringmer. Wes Tate and Zac McEniry both scored twice for the hosts, who also had Adam Smith and Jamie Crone on target at Little Common Rec.
Wayne Wilkinson and Nathan Crabb both scored twice for Langney Wanderers, who returned to winning ways with a 5-3 victory at Midhurst & Easebourne. Shane Saunders was also on target for the visitors, whilst goals from Joel Stevens, Lawrence Hyde and Lewis Hamilton proved to be in vain for the Stags.
Clive Piller scored a hat-trick for Oakwood as they tore apart Southwick at Old Barn Way. Jordan Maze and Jack Nourse goals added the misery for the hosts, with Mark Gibert’s side winning 5-1.
Elsewhere, Morgan Forry and Toby Lempriere goals cancelled out Mark Barnard and Rory Woolston efforts as Selsey twice battled back to earn a point at Lingfield in a 2-2 draw.
In the division’s other game, Joe Warner scored twice for Storrington as they came from behind to win 2-1 at Bexhill United. Drew Greenall had given the hosts the lead at the Polegrove.
There was one postponement in Division One, with St. Francis Rangers’ match at home to Seaford Town falling foul to the weather.
Due to the Sussex FA Intermediate Cup, there were only two Division Two matches played. Sam Leggatt scored a hat-trick for Clymping as they beat Alfold, 5-2. Charles Lowdell and Ryan Stevens were also on target in the win at the Village Hall.
In the division’s other game, Rustington scored six second half goals to see off Ferring, 8-0. Aaron Turek and Carl Bennett both scored twice, with Jordan Curtis scoring a hat-trick. Oliver Rowland completed the scoring at the Glebelands.
Saturday’s Buildbase FA Vase Second Round ties saw three sides from the Macron Store Southern Combination Football League progress to Monday’s draw.
Eastbourne Town, Horsham YMCA and Newhaven all progressed to round three, whilst there were narrow defeats for both Eastbourne United and Haywards Heath Town.
Peter Buckland’s YM side picked up the stand-out result at Culver Road. Whilst it was not really a shock they beat Lancing, the 7-1 scoreline was certainly of note. Matt Crane, Matt Simpson and Ash Dugdale saw the visitors go into the break 3-0 up. However, the Gorings Mead outfit were far from finished, with Sam Schaaf, Max Howell, Nick Sullivan and then Dave Brown goals making it a bad day at the office for John Sharman’s men.
Lee Robinson’s stoppage time effort gave Newhaven a 2-1 win against Ascot United at Culver Road. Scott Taylor’s penalty on the hour gave the Dockers the lead, only for the Hellenic League side to draw level within ten minutes. With extra time looming, Robinson fired in to give the hosts a narrow win.
Eastbourne Town will be hoping to take their FA Vase form into the league after beating Ashford United at the Saffrons. After going behind to the Southern Counties East League leaders, Ethan Strevett draw Town level at the break, before Dan Bolwell fired in twenty minutes from time to give John Lambert’s side victory.
However, neighbours Eastbourne United were not to have the same luck against SCEFL opposition, with Crowborough Athletic winning at the Oval. Peter Featherstone was in the wrong place at the wrong time, with his own goal five minutes from time giving the visitors a narrow win.
Haywards Heath Town’s road to Wembley came to an abrupt halt at Bedfont Sports. A goal either side of half-time for the hosts proved decisive, with the Blues missing their chances away at Combined Counties Premier opposition.
The tie between Chichester City and Canterbury City fell victim to the overnight rain, and was postponed.
