SCFL League Round Up - 19/11/2016

Shoreham extended their lead at the top of the Macron Store Southern Combination Football League Premier after brushing aside AFC Uckfield Town.

Tom Burton scored a hat-trick for the Mussels in a 6-0 win, with Richard Greenfield, an own goal and Joe Keehan rounding off a comfortable win for the hosts at Middle Road.

Their lead at the top is now five points after Pagham fell to a last-gasp defeat at home to Eastbourne Town.

Kieron Pamment twice put the Lions ahead after Jason Taylor’s equaliser, before Evan Archibald made it 2-2 with thirteen minutes to go. However, it was John Lambert’s side who went on to win – with Adebola Sotoyinbo scoring in the seventh minute of stoppage time to win it 3-2 at Nyetimber Lane.

Haywards Heath Town are two points behind the top two after a comfortable win at Crabtree Park. Trevor McCreadie and Alex Laing both scored twice away at Wick, with Jamie Weston completing the scoring in a 5-1 win.

Peacehaven & Telscombe moved out of the bottom three for the first time since early August after a 5-2 win against Crawley Down Gatwick. Josh Marshall scored twice for the Magpies at the Sports Park, with Curtis Ford, Ellis Cowd and Marcus Allen also on target. Sam Cane and Oli Leslie were on the scoresheet for visitors Crawley, but it was in vein.

Worthing United picked up their first point under new manager Simon Funnell after late drama against Broadbridge Heath at Lyons Way. Frank Foster had given the Mavericks the lead early on, only for Scott Weller to draw the Bears level at the break. Jake Holmes then looked to have given Broadbridge Heath the points with a strike three minutes from time, but Matt Hards struck in the last few moments to earn a point.

Michael Wood struck twice inside the first seven minutes as Loxwood won 4-2 against Littlehampton Town. Cecil Jee and Clyde Jacques were also on target in the win, with George Gaskin scoring twice for the visitors at Plaistow Road.

Chichester City move above Eastbourne United up to fourth after winning at the Oval. Josh Clack scored a brace for Miles Rutherford’s men, with Scott Jones and Jake Gale also on target in a 4-1 win.

Elliott Wood, Scott Taylor, Ryan Knight and Lee Robinson were all on target as Newhaven won at Horsham YMCA by the same scoreline, whilst Michael Death scored either side of the break for Hassocks in a 2-0 win over Arundel at the Beacon.

In the division’s other game, Alex Fair scored the winner as Lancing won 2-1 at bottom of the table Hailsham Town. Billy Crittenden had earlier cancelled out Lewis Finney’s opener.



Saltdean United’s lead at the top of the Division One table has been cut to four points after they were held at Oakwood. Alfie Slark cancelled out Andy McDowell’s opener as Oakwood earned a surprise point at Tinsley Lane.

Little Common are up to second after a late winner at Southwick. Dean Smith cancelled out Wes Tate’s opener on the hour, before Tate scored his second just two minutes from time to earn the visitors all three points.

Steyning Town missed the chance to go a point behind Saltdean after they lost at home to Lingfield. After a goalless first half, Matt Gates opened the scoring before Nathan Hull’s brace sealed a 3-0 win at the Shooting Field.

Bexhill United picked up a 4-1 win away at an improving Seaford Town. William Trickett scored twice for the Pirates, with Gordon Cuddington and Kyle Holden also on target.

Selsey continue their upturn in form after a 4-2 win against Mile Oak. Morgan Forry scored twice for the hosts, with an own goal and James Parsons also on target at the Bunn Leisure Stadium.

Elsewhere, Nick Tilley’s late goal saw Billingshurst earn a point against Storrington. After falling behind to Paul White’s early goal, the Swans responded in the second half with Matt Searle and Josh Warner goals putting them ahead. With three minutes to go, Tilley struck to earn the hosts a point.

AFC Varndeanians and St. Francis Rangers played out a goalless draw, whilst the game between Ringmer and Langney Wanderers was abandoned after 85 minutes due to a waterlogged pitch.



In Division Two, Bosham still lead the way by five points after a narrow win against Lancing United. James Colinese scored with just seven minutes to go to give the unbeaten leaders a 1-0 win at Walton Lane.

Sidlesham remain second after a 4-0 win against Westfield. Tom Bayley scored twice for the Sids, with Tom Jefkins and Callum Dowdell also on target in the win.

Jarvis Brook stay third despite drawing their fifth game of the season at Montpelier Villa. Kieran Thomas cancelled out Trevor Wilson’s opener for the hosts in a 1-1 draw at Sussex University.

Steve Kirkham scored a hat-trick for Worthing Town Leisure as they beat Rottingdean Village, 5-3. Rossi Kaye and Declan Jenkins were also on target as the visitors won their fourth game of the season.

Elsewhere, Ferring’s woes continue after Clymping won 7-1 at the Glebelands. Tom Foxon scored a hat-trick, with Charles Lowdell bagging a brace. Samuel Leggatt and Ryan Stevens were also on target.


In the division’s other game, Duncan Barnes got the only goal for Rustington as they won 1-0 at Upper Beeding.
