SCFL DIVISION 1 ROUND UP 03/12/16

In Division One, Little Common lead the way on goal difference after an eventful win against AFC Varndeanians at Little Common
Rec. Fred Barker gave the visitors the lead inside a minute, but the hosts bounced back to lead 3-1 after just ten minutes with
Adam Smith, Jamie Crone and Lewis Hole on target. However, the sides went into the break on level terms with Charles Young
and Med Shaker scoring for Ryan Gayler’s side. Despite the six goals in the first half, only one followed in the second – with Wes
Tate scoring the decisive goal in a 4-3 win for the hosts.

They replace Saltdean at the top after they were held to a draw at Southwick. Andy McDowell scored against his former club for
the Tigers, but they could only manage a 1-1 draw.

There were eight goals at the Caburn, where Ringmer stay bottom after earning a point against Mile Oak, but only after blowing
a 3-0 lead. Ringmer opened with a goal from Tom Shelley after only 13 minutes followed a minute later with a goal from Ebou Jallow with his first goal for the club which put Ringmer in control, only for Michael Gould and
Enzo Benn goals to make it 3-2. Steve Jackson then made it 4-2 to the hosts, but Oak responded with Joe Benn and Ben Symes
on target to make it 4-4 and share the spoils.

There was also a come-back at the Sports Pavilion, where Lingfield came from 3-1 down to win at home against Bexhill United.
After Sam Bell’s early effort, Corey Wheeler and a brace from Wayne Giles saw the Pirates go 3-1 up midway through the second
period. However, the hosts battled back, with Bell and a brace from Aaron Stead helping them to a 5-3 win.
Joe Warner and Ross Fraser both scored twice as Storrington won narrowly against St. Francis Rangers. Despite a brace from
Rhys White, Rangers couldn’t quite do enough to earn a point, with the hosts winning 4-3.
Langney Wanderers’ revival under Andy Goodchild continued after a 4-0 win against Billingshurst. Nathan Crabb, Shane
Saunders, Tristan Jarvis and Ben Saber were all on target at Shinewater for Wanderers.

Steyning Town stay in third spot despite being held to a goalless draw at Midhurst & Easebourne, whilst Tom Lyne’s effort saw
East Preston stay in fifth after a 1-0 win against Oakwood at The Lashmar.
