At last game on, Tuesday night saw the first match for the 1st team since Dec 12th, since then the snows had frozen out any chance. Ringmer travelled down to ex Blue Player Dominic Shepherds Southwick for the firstround of the Brighton Charity Cup.
It would prove to be a big work out for all on the pitch after the long lay off and fitness would be a key factor, in the end with extra time both teams done remarkably well considering they played for a good 2 hours. Bob has had the lads training and playing indoor football at weekends as no pitches were available this has helped keep up their match fitness.

Play tactics from Ringmer gave them a slow start Bob Explained
"Both Steve and I agreed that we would start 4-4-2 in the Brighton CC game as we thought it likely that Southwick may have known a bit about our style of play." "In hindsight. that was an error; the players unable to adapt to the new system in 45 minutes. Steve had to leave at half - time but before he

left we agreed that 4-5-1 needed to the system second half,"

"So we swapped it around having seen us struggle and applied our usual style of play."

This did make a noticeable difference in the second half as Ringmer had a lot more of the ball. Three all at full time and this meant extra time to be played. Ringmer scored just four minutes in which was the deciding goal in the end as neither side scored again.

I asked Bob, was this to much for the first outing on the field?

"Some would say we could have done without 2 hours of football but before the Selsey game it was probably the best thing. It certainly replaced Thursdays training session." "A good win but the important game is on Saturday when we get back to the league fixtures."
