Weekend report 13/02/10
Ringmer's inconsistent form showed again on Saturday after losing 5-3 to league title contenders Chichester City. Ringmer, still hurting after loosing out to Hailsham 5-0 on Wednesday evening knew they had to get something out of this match to bolster their points in the table. This was not to be however as Chi got the better of the battling Blues in a thrilling contest. Fans watched on as the Blues twice come from behind before two late goals through defensive naivety condemned them to a 5-3 home defeat. Manager Bob Said said: “We got back to 2-2 and 3-3 and when you score three goals at home you expect to win. But we gave away some bad goals. Chichester are very direct but you can see why they score so many goals.”
Ringmers 2nd X1 had better fortune at Pease Pottage winning four goals to nil, goals from Robbie Frost (2) Elliott Finney and Ryan Betsworth sealed the pot for a well earned three points and a clean sheet
Ryan Betsworth's eye was again on target as he scored a fantastic goal on Monday evening when they took on Reserve Premier league leaders Eastbourne Town in the Reserve Section Cup. Unfortunately this goal was not enough after Eastbourne put three past vets keeper Graham Bannantyne, despite his sterling performance between the sticks. The Blues put in a commendable and brave performance and never once looked second best. Sorry no report for this game but the Chi & Potts reports are on the website.
Ringmer travell to Shoreham for their next Division one match on Saturday 20th, Another tough game but the players will really be up for this one in the hunt for a much needed win and three points.

Hailsham 5-0 Ringmer
10/02/10–Ringmer took a trip to Hellsham and back last night, after loosing 5-0 on a night when even the reporters pens froze up. A tale of two halves saw Ringmer boss the opening proceedings but a spirited second half performance from the Yellows saw them score five unanswered goals to seal an emphatic win for the home side.
Manager Bob Munnery said of the match
" Too many times this season we've dominated play and not got the deserved result. We should have not lost the plot when the ref mistakenly gave a penalty to Hailsham. This young fella has made some odd decisions when he's reffed us previously not least when he decided to not let us play against Crowborough in the rain and even more strange was to allow a game to be played where you could not see the lines as with last night".
Did the shortage of key players play a part in the outcome of the match?
"Although we had 8 players out, I would have still expected us to win the game. Clearly we need to make changes before Saturday and those changes will of course be made. Expect a better performance on a flatter pitch at the weekend"

Next up the 1st team take on Chochester City at home on Saturday afternoon. Chichester a currently second in the league table so it will be an interesting and entertaining game.
Our 2nd X1 are away at Pease Pottage kicking off at 2:30 pm. they also play Monday eve at the Caburn in the re-scheduled match from last Tuesday against Eastbourne Town. If this is unplayable on our pitch it will be played at Eastbourne Tn.

Ringmer 1st X1 travelled to Crawley down on Saturday and came away with a much needed 3 points, In an exciting end to end game The Blues scored twice in the first half.an excellent goal from Jayson Sowter and the partnership of Tom Rand and Jo Jo Tubon pairing up to get the second. Crawley Down found it hard to penetrate the Blues defence and couldn't' pull anything back, The home side probably had a few more chances in the second half as they piled on the pressure. The match finished with no change on the score sheet, 0-2 to Ringmer.
Bob and Steve were pleased with the afternoons work, Bob Said:
“Three points earnt at a very difficult location in Crawley. Their manager Darren always puts together a good squad - he was responsible for managing Peacehaven into promotion last term - and I was very impressed with the team performance and both Steve and I have big problems in selection issues come next Wednesday evening in the tough encounter at Hailsham.”
Special Note
On Sunday morning at the U18's match against Uckfield, youth Blues U18 team Captain and reserve team midfielder Jordan Lee suffered a badly broken leg in a tackle with the Uckfield goal keeper.
Bob who was at the match said:
“My weekend being spoilt to be honest at the 18s game where our fantastic player for the future - Jordan Lee - broke his leg in a challenge with their keeper in the second half.
Speedy recovery son”
The trustees, management,
supporters and team mates also send their best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
The reserves faired well against table toppers Peacehaven, despite loosing in the last few minutes going down 2-3 of the match the lads put in a great performance, even taking the lead twice, no mean feat against the league leaders. Goals from Louis Munnery and Rob Frost
